Electronic Design Engineer – Scotland or France
Contract type: Full Time, permanent
Minimum Qualification: BSc or BEng (Electronic Engineering)
TPL Vision’s range of LED Illumination helps the manufacturing industry to deliver quality products and ensure traceability using Machine Vision Solutions. This helps to eliminate production errors and lower manufacturing costs. Typical applications for machine vision include detecting defects on production lines, guiding assembly robots, tracking, sorting, and identifying parts in various industries including food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, automotive and logistics.
TPL Vision recently became a wholly owned division of the wenglor sensoric group, headquartered in Tettnang, Germany, which brings exciting opportunities for additional growth.
TPL Vision is looking for an Electronic Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. The successful candidate may be based either at our development and R&D office in Perth, Scotland or at our manufacturing facility near Nantes, France, depending on experience, preference, and location.
The tasks for the role include:
- Developing electronics
- Prototype validation
- Supporting the production processes
This hardware engineering role will require the candidate to add value from day one; the design and manufacture of PCBs is critical to the company’s success. Occasional travel between company sites, including Nantes and Tettnang, may be required depending on the successful candidate’s location.
The ideal candidate will be highly technical, organised and have experience in the field of PCB design. Knowledge of heat dissipation and experience working with hardware projects is vital. The job will require the candidate to be a self-starter, meaning they must be both proactive and reactive to maintaining the company’s high-quality standards from design concept through to production.
Requirements:
- BSc/BEng or higher degree in Electronic Engineering or related subject
- Firmware and embedded programming experience (or willingness to learn)
- Knowledge of design for EMC and ESD compliance
- Experience with Altium design suite, or similar PCB design software
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Written or spoken French or German
- Experience in machine vision
- Experience working in tangent with Mechanical Designers
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
The role offers a competitive salary, full-time hours (e.g., Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm), onsite parking, and a conveniently located office in Perth. For the right candidate, hybrid working (home and office) is possible after the completion of the probation period.
