An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven Energy Manager to lead strategic initiatives across a diverse property portfolio. This role is central to enhancing energy efficiency and sustainable practices throughout this property investment company, based in the City fringe offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a Group-wide energy reduction and decarbonisation plan, setting and managing energy performance KPIs across the property portfolio.
- Advise senior leadership on energy market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory impacts, integrating energy efficiency and lifecycle cost analysis into investment and asset management decisions.
- Conduct energy audits across the portfolio and develop action plans for improvement, identifying and delivering retrofit opportunities such as HVAC optimisation, lighting upgrades, and control systems.
- Oversee metering, monitoring, and data integrity across all assets, driving operational efficiency through smart building technology and analytics.
- Manage electricity and gas contracts to balance cost, sustainability, and risk, sourcing renewable-backed supply agreements (REGO-certified or equivalent).
- Maintain a centralised utility data platform and produce performance dashboards, benchmarking consumption and costs, and reporting variances and improvement opportunities.
- Lead corporate carbon accounting (Scopes 1–3) and annual emissions reporting, ensuring full compliance with ESOS, SECR, MEES, EPC, and related regulations.
- Implement ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 systems, managing waste, water, and environmental data reporting across the Group.
- Develop and deliver the Group’s Net Zero Carbon and wider ESG strategy, advising on sustainability criteria for acquisitions, refurbishments, and new developments.
- Promote sustainable procurement and material selection in capital projects, supporting biodiversity, social value, and community engagement initiatives.
- Prepare annual sustainability and ESG performance reports for internal and external stakeholders, and lead engagement programmes to encourage energy awareness among tenants and staff.
- Coordinate cross-departmental working groups to share knowledge and best practices, acting as the company’s sustainability ambassador at industry forums.
Core Competencies
- Strong knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainable technologies.
- Ability to produce and present detailed proposals and reports.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders, including financial institutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Energy Management, Sustainability, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
- Professional membership or working towards certification with relevant bodies (IEMA, Energy Institute, CIBSE).
- Minimum 4+ years in energy or sustainability management within property or FM.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental and energy regulations.
- Proven success in energy performance improvement projects and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills (e.g., MS Excel, Power BI).
- Clear understanding of building services, HVAC systems, and metering principles.
- Strong project management and contractor coordination capabilities.
