Overview

Card Schemes Compliance Analyst to join our Compliance team at TPF | The Payments Factory. This is a critical role that supports our card scheme obligations across both issuing and acquiring. The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations team and collaborate with internal stakeholders across product, risk, legal, operations, and finance. Location: Gzira, Malta (local candidates only).

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance with card scheme rules (e.g., Visa, Mastercard) across issuing and acquiring activities.
  • Track scheme bulletins, mandates, and rule changes; support internal dissemination and implementation of changes.
  • Support internal audits and scheme reviews, assisting with documentation, evidence gathering, and remediation tracking.
  • Assist in the development and upkeep of internal policies, controls, and procedures related to scheme compliance.
  • Conduct first-level reviews of scheme compliance incidents and support root-cause analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain a register of scheme compliance issues, fines, and communications.
  • Support onboarding and training activities related to scheme compliance topics.
  • Liaise with the Operations team to ensure customer-level controls align with scheme expectations (e.g., chargebacks, merchant monitoring, BIN usage).
  • Assist with reporting and management information for scheme KPIs, compliance dashboards, and regulatory metrics.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in compliance or a regulated financial services environment (e.g., EMI, crypto-assets).
  • Good understanding of card scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard); familiarity with card issuing and acquiring is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills; ability to clearly document and interpret testing results.
  • Comfortable working with policies, procedures, and regulatory texts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of collaborating across teams, especially when testing controls or supporting the implementation of new procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow into broader compliance responsibilities through ongoing training.
  • Knowledge of or interest in crypto regulation (e.g., MiCA, VFA Act, FATF Guidance on VASPs) is a plus.
