We are proud to be partnering with a leading tax practice in London who are recruiting an experienced and qualified Personal Tax Senior to lead a high-performing team within their personal tax practice. This role is essential in delivering accurate, compliant, and strategic tax solutions to a diverse portfolio of private clients, including high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs and families.

As a key leader, you will oversee the end-to-end preparation and review of complex personal tax returns—covering Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, and Property Tax while ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations and evolving tax legislation. You will play a critical role in mentoring and developing talent, driving operational excellence, and supporting business growth through enhanced client service and process innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Help lead and manage a team of tax professionals, providing strategic guidance, performance reviews, and career development support.
  • Supervise the preparation, review and timely submission of complex personal tax returns, including Self Assessment, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and Property Tax.
  • Ensure strict compliance with HMRC regulations, statutory deadlines, and changes in tax law across all client filings.
  • Serve as a trusted client advisor, delivering clear, accurate, and proactive tax planning advice on personal finance, tax-efficient structuring and year-end strategies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks, recommending corrective actions and best practice solutions.
  • Partner with senior partners and cross-functional teams to drive business development, client acquisition, and service innovation.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes, internal controls, and documentation standards.
  • Stay up to date with legislative changes, HMRC guidance, and industry trends to ensure team expertise remains current.
  • Develop and deliver training resources and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen team capabilities and performance.

Requirements

  • ATT/CTA qualification, or equivalent chartered certified accountant status.
  • Progressive experience in personal tax, ideally within a professional services firm or tax advisory practice.
  • Proven experience in team leadership, people management and talent development.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK personal tax legislation, including Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and Property Tax.
  • Expertise in tax return preparation, compliance and advisory services for private clients.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and client engagement skills with the ability to simplify complex tax concepts.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxCalc, Thomson Reuters) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, meet tight deadlines and deliver consistent results.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development and adherence to industry standards.
