Bookkeeper and Payroll Advisor in Marlborough

TPF Recruitment is supporting a highly regarded, multisited firm of chartered accountants in its search for a Bookkeeper and Payroll Advisor to join its Marlborough office.

This is a varied position for someone who is comfortable providing both bookkeeping and payroll services to a portfolio of owner managed businesses. The role offers a good balance of regular client work and would suit an organised individual who enjoys building positive, long term relationships.

Responsibilities will include:

• Completing bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of clients

• Maintaining purchase and sales ledgers

• Processing bank transactions and completing reconciliations

• Preparing and submitting VAT returns

• Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls

• Calculating statutory payments, pensions and deductions

• Preparing payslips and payroll reports

• Managing starters, leavers and changes to employee details

• Completing relevant payroll submissions

• Responding to bookkeeping and payroll queries

• Liaising with clients and colleagues to ensure deadlines are met

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

• Have previous bookkeeping and payroll experience

• Ideally have worked within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau

• Possess a good understanding of VAT and bookkeeping principles

• Be familiar with payroll legislation and workplace pension requirements

• Have experience using bookkeeping and payroll software

• Demonstrate excellent accuracy and attention to detail

• Be organised and comfortable managing recurring deadlines

• Communicate confidently and professionally with clients

• Be qualified by experience or hold a relevant qualification
