The Role
As a key member of the personal tax team, you will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients and ensuring the smooth delivery of compliance work. Alongside this, you'll provide support on tax planning assignments, work closely with senior leadership and contribute to the ongoing development of junior team members. Responsibilities include:
- Oversee a portfolio of private clients, including HNWI’s, partnerships and trusts.
- Ensure personal tax compliance work is completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines.
- Review tax returns and related work prepared by junior staff, offering technical support and constructive feedback.
- Handle more complex tax affairs, computations and disclosures as required.
- Act as a trusted adviser to clients, responding to tax queries and providing practical guidance.
- Liaise directly with HMRC regarding enquiries, correspondence and compliance matters.
- Assist with tax planning projects and advisory assignments across a broad range of personal tax issues.
- Support the training and development of junior members of the team through coaching and day-to-day supervision.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider practice to deliver an outstanding client experience.
Requirements
- ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Previous experience gained within a personal tax environment in an accountancy practice.
- Strong understanding of UK personal taxation and current legislation.
- Prior experience reviewing work or supporting less experienced team members would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility with clients and colleagues alike.
