We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper / Management Accountant to join our client's finance team. This strategic role ensures accurate financial record-keeping, delivers insightful management accounts and supports data-driven decision-making across the business. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with UK GAAP and statutory reporting standards while driving financial accuracy, forecasting and performance analysis.
With expertise in accounting software and financial modeling, you'll play a key role in budgeting, variance analysis and internal control improvements. Responsibilities:- Maintain accurate general ledger and financial records using accounting platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports and KPI dashboards.
- Perform in-depth variance analysis to assess performance against budgets and forecasts, delivering actionable recommendations.
- Support the development of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and rolling forecasts aligned with business goals.
- Ensure full compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions during audits and reporting cycles.
- Enhance internal financial controls and streamline processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Deliver clear, timely financial insights to senior leadership and department heads.
- Mentor and support junior accounting team members in professional development and best practices.
- Leverage data analytics tools and advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) to improve reporting quality and business intelligence.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or equivalent) preferred.
- Several years of progressive experience in bookkeeping and management accounting within a corporate or professional services setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing and analyzing management accounts with a strong focus on financial insight and business impact.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational ability, and capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, strategic narratives for non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Salary in the region of £50,000-£70,000 dependent on experience plus benefits package.
