This role is central to delivering strategic, compliance-driven tax solutions across complex personal tax areas including Inheritance Tax (IHT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and cross-border tax planning.

As a key leader, you will oversee client portfolios, ensure adherence to HMRC regulations and spearhead advisory initiatives that enhance client outcomes and support firm growth. Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end personal tax compliance for high-net-worth and non-UK domiciled clients, including preparation and review of annual tax returns, IHT filings, and CGT computations.
  • Deliver strategic tax advisory on wealth preservation, estate planning, and tax-efficient structuring, with a focus on non-UK domicile rules and international tax implications.
  • Advise on complex issues such as trusts, chargeable transfers, deemed disposals, and lifetime/death duties, ensuring full compliance with current legislation and HMRC guidance.
  • Partner with senior partners and cross-functional teams to design customised tax solutions aligned with client goals and risk profiles.
  • Mentor and supervise junior tax professionals, promoting accuracy, continuous learning, and exceptional client service.
  • Support business development through client presentations, proposal writing, and active participation in industry networking events.
  • Monitor legislative updates—including changes to IHT thresholds, CGT rates, and anti-avoidance rules—and implement timely guidance across client engagements.
  • Maintain rigorous adherence to firm quality standards, professional ethics, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • CTA qualification (or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in personal tax advisory.
  • Experience in a firm providing advisory services to complex clients including international clients, HNWIs and non-UK domiciled individuals.
  • Expertise in Inheritance Tax (IHT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and cross-border tax matters, including domicile, remittance basis, and international tax considerations.
  • Team player and able to support colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of trust structures, lifetime gifts, and estate planning strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify complex tax concepts for non-specialist clients.
  • Track record in client relationship management, business development, and team leadership.
  • Proficiency in tax software and productivity tools, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Benefits:

  • Hybrid and flexible working options.
  • Independent practice with the intention of staying that way.
