TPF Recruitment, the leading accountancy practice recruiters in the South, are delighted to be supporting a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice with the recruitment of a Senior Manager to lead its Surrey based accounting and tax team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with a strong background in practice, who is looking for genuine responsibility across client management, technical delivery, portfolio performance and team leadership.
The successful candidate will take ownership of a significant client portfolio, lead and develop the Surrey team and work closely with senior colleagues across the wider business.
The Role
As Senior Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Surrey client portfolio and accounting team. You will combine technical expertise with strong commercial and leadership skills, acting as a senior point of contact for clients across accounts, tax and compliance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, managing and developing the Surrey accounting team
- Taking overall responsibility for a portfolio of clients, ensuring work is delivered accurately and on time
- Building and maintaining strong, trusted client relationships
- Reviewing accounts, tax and compliance work produced by the team
- Providing technical guidance on accounting, tax and compliance matters
- Ensuring work complies with UK GAAP and relevant tax legislation
- Managing workflow, deadlines, budgets and the financial performance of the portfolio
- Identifying opportunities to expand services and add value for existing clients
- Supporting new business opportunities and proposals
- Working collaboratively with audit colleagues and assisting with accounting and tax matters arising from audits
- Overseeing AML compliance and ensuring appropriate client risk assessments are maintained
- Coaching, mentoring and developing team members at all levels
- Working closely with senior colleagues across offices to share resources, knowledge and best practice
Requirements - The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will likely have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification
- Significant post qualification experience within an accountancy practice
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and UK tax legislation
- Proven experience managing a client portfolio and leading a team
- Strong accounts, tax and compliance experience
- Experience reviewing work and maintaining high technical standards
- Excellent client relationship and communication skills
- Strong commercial awareness and portfolio management capabilities
- Experience with accounting and tax software such as IRIS, Xero or QuickBooks
- A proactive, collaborative and leadership focused approach
