This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Private Client Tax professional looking to take the next step in their career within a growing and forward thinking accountancy practice. You will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of private clients, delivering high quality personal tax compliance alongside a range of advisory projects. Working closely with Partners, Directors and colleagues across the wider firm, you will play an important role in building trusted client relationships, identifying advisory opportunities and delivering an exceptional client experience. As an Assistant Manager, you will also provide technical guidance and day to day support to more junior members of the team, giving you the opportunity to further develop your leadership skills while gaining exposure to larger and more complex advisory assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied portfolio of private clients, acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact.
  • Deliver high quality personal tax compliance across your client portfolio.
  • Contribute to a range of private client tax advisory projects.
  • Identify advisory opportunities within your portfolio by developing strong, long term client relationships.
  • Support one off compliance and advisory assignments as required.
  • Attend client meetings and play an active role in relationship and workflow management.
  • Maintain up to date technical knowledge through training, research and monitoring changes in legislation and HMRC policy.
  • Ensure all client work is completed within agreed budgets and to the firm's required standards.

Client Relationships & Business Development

  • Develop strong, long term relationships with private clients and become a trusted point of contact.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional advisory support across private client tax and the wider firm's service offering.
  • Build strong internal relationships with Partners and Directors across different service lines.
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure a joined up and high quality service for clients.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the private client tax offering.

Leadership & Development

  • Supervise junior members of the team involved in delivering private client tax work.
  • Review work and provide constructive feedback to support the development of junior colleagues.
  • Provide technical guidance and day to day support to the wider team.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Take increasing responsibility for more complex client work as your experience develops.

Workflow & Commercial Management

  • Manage your portfolio effectively to ensure key deadlines are achieved.
  • Monitor work in progress and manage client billing effectively.
  • Work within agreed budgets and ensure scope is managed appropriately.
  • Maintain high standards of compliance and internal processes across your portfolio.

Requirements

  • CTA and/or ATT qualified, or qualified by experience.
  • Strong private client tax compliance knowledge with relevant advisory experience.
  • Previous experience managing a portfolio of private clients.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong, trusted client relationships.
  • Proactive, organised and detail focused, with good commercial awareness.
  • Experience reviewing work and supporting or supervising junior members of a team.
  • Strong technical knowledge and a commitment to keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and HMRC policy.
  • A collaborative approach with the confidence to work closely with Partners, Directors and colleagues across the wider practice.
  • Experience in, or an interest in, the agricultural sector would be advantageous.
