TPF Recruitment is working with a respected independent accountancy firm in Eastbourne that has a strong focus on the not-for-profit sector. They are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Charity Accounting Senior with a solid background in charity accounting to join their team. This is a unique opportunity to work with a variety of small and medium-sized charities, supporting them with financial statements, independent examinations, and in-house financial functions. The role would suit someone who thrives in a client-facing, supportive environment and has a genuine interest in the charity sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare SORP-compliant financial statements for a variety of small and medium-sized charities
  • Conduct Independent Examinations in line with the Charities Act
  • Support clients with in-house financial management, bookkeeping, and accounting systems
  • Provide assistance and technical support with accounting software and IT-related queries
  • Mentor and support junior team members, sharing knowledge and assisting with training

Requirements:

  • An accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Sympathy with the charitable values and ethos of the firm
  • Minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience within the charity or not-for-profit sector
  • Proven ability to produce SORP-compliant financial statements
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and a wide range of accounting software
  • Good IT literacy with the ability to support clients with practical system solutions
  • Excellent communication skills – clear, concise, and appropriate to the audience
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Collaborative team player who is flexible, supportive, and self-aware
