TPF Recruitment is supporting a well-established and growing accountancy practice in Chichester with the recruitment of a Part Time Bookkeeping Assistant to join their supportive bookkeeping team. This office-based position offers approximately 22.5 hours per week, which can be worked across 3, 4, or 5 days, providing flexibility around working patterns. The role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail who is looking to build their experience within an accountancy practice environment.

As a Bookkeeping Assistant, you will support the bookkeeping team with the accurate and timely processing of client financial records using a range of accounting software systems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing high volumes of client documentation accurately and efficiently into accounting systems, primarily Sage.
  • Matching, batching, and coding client documentation.
  • Ensuring correct VAT treatment is applied to transactions at all times.
  • Processing client expenses and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Inputting and reconciling bank transactions in line with team requirements and deadlines.
  • Supporting the Bookkeeping Manager and wider team with general bookkeeping tasks.
  • Assisting the team in meeting client deadlines and maintaining high service standards.
  • Undertaking additional duties as reasonably required in line with the needs of the role.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping principles or a willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Dext, or QuickBooks would be advantageous.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice or bookkeeping environment would be beneficial, although not essential.
