We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Audit Manager in Luton to lead high-impact audit engagements within a reputable accounting firm serving a diverse client base across the UK. This role is central to ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial statements in alignment with IFRS and UK GAAP standards. As an Audit Manager, you will oversee end-to-end audit processes—from planning and execution to reporting—while mentoring junior team members and maintaining rigorous quality control. With some personal tax advisory work, you’ll also guide high-net-worth clients through complex tax planning, compliance, and structuring strategies, enhancing client outcomes and firm differentiation. The hybrid working model offers flexibility with regular on-site presence in Luton, supporting collaboration and career growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead full-cycle audit engagements for SMEs and mid-market clients, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Manage and develop audit teams, including seniors and assistants, fostering professional growth and performance.
  • Prepare and review audit documentation, including risk assessments, testing procedures, and working papers.
  • Conduct in-depth reviews of financial statements for compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and statutory requirements.
  • Deliver expert personal tax advisory services, including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and tax structuring.
  • Act as primary point of contact for clients, external advisors, and regulators, resolving audit queries efficiently.
  • Identify, assess, and escalate audit risks and control deficiencies to senior management and clients.
  • Support business development through client proposals, service innovation, and strategic outreach.
  • Uphold firm quality control standards and professional ethics across all engagements.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning by mentoring junior staff and promoting technical excellence.

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification in ACA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in audit, preferably within a firm of accountants.
  • Demonstrable experience managing audit engagements from inception to completion, including client interaction and reporting.
  • Strong expertise in personal tax legislation, including tax planning, compliance, and structuring for high-net-worth individuals.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, and statutory reporting frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in audit software (e.g., CaseWare, TeamMate) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to solve complex accounting and audit challenges.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and client relationship management abilities.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid model with regular on-site presence in Luton.
