TPF Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Guildford with their search for an Assistant Manager to join their growing Accounts team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who enjoys variety, client interaction, and taking a hands-on approach to advisory work as well as compliance.

Our client is a long-standing accountancy practice based in central Guildford with a second office in London. They’ve recently become part of a larger, growing group of firms and continue to thrive, offering a full suite of accounting and tax services to clients across a wide range of sectors including media, technology, and international business. With a strong people-first culture and a supportive leadership team, they’re known for investing in their staff and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
The Role
This is a varied position where you’ll be involved in a broad mix of accounts preparation, review, and advisory work, as well as supervising junior colleagues and working closely with senior leadership. Your day-to-day might include:
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, groups, and partnerships
- Supporting with business advisory projects including due diligence and company valuations
- Reviewing work from junior team members and supporting their training and development
- Building strong client relationships and managing a small portfolio with room to grow
- Contributing to strategic and operational improvements within the team
- Working closely with Directors on bespoke assignments and financial reporting tasks
Requirements
About You
We’re looking for a confident, qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) who is eager to get stuck in, take ownership of their work, and contribute to the success of the wider team. Ideally, you will have:
- Solid experience working within an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards
- A good working knowledge of systems such as CCH, Xero, and Excel
- An interest in business advisory and/or corporate finance work
- The ability to manage workloads, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines
- A collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills
- Access to your own transport would be a bonus, as occasional travel between offices is required
