We're looking for a commercially minded and proactive Fleet Commercial Manager to join our Fleet team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the commercial management of our rolling stock and fleet operations, ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of our fleet services across the Trans Pennine Express network.
Reporting to the Head of Fleet Commercial, you will provide commercial support across a range of fleet activities including contracts, supplier relationships, fuel delivery and procurement, budgeting, compliance, reporting, and performance management.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to help deliver business objectives and drive continuous improvement.
What you'll be doing
As Fleet Commercial Manager, you will
- Support the management of rolling stock leases, train service agreements, depot access agreements and third-party hire contracts.
- Assist with supplier negotiations and commercial discussions, ensuring value for money and strong stakeholder relationships.
- Lead the day-to-day management and reporting of fleet fuel delivery and procurement and EC4T requirements.
- Monitor and report on the performance of fleet-related contracts and commercial agreements.
- Produce key commercial performance reports, KPIs and management information.
- Support the development, monitoring and forecasting of fleet budgets.
- Carry out commercial audits and compliance reviews to ensure contractual and financial governance.
- Liaise with operational and engineering teams regarding changes impacting fleet activities.
- Manage purchase requisitions, goods receipting and invoice processing activities.
- Ensure supplier invoices are validated, reconciled and processed accurately.
- Provide second-line On-Call support in line with company procedures.
- Act as deputy to the Head of Fleet Commercial when required.
About you
We're looking for someone who combines commercial awareness with strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.
You will ideally have
- A relevant qualification such as NVQ, ONC, HNC or degree level education.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of contracts, finance and business governance.
- Experience working within a commercial, operational or procurement environment.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- The ability to exercise sound judgement and make informed commercial decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to produce high-quality reports, documentation and correspondence.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
Desirable
- Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance, repair and traction.
- Understanding of train operations and the commercial structure of the UK rail industry.
- Experience using systems such as SAP, Power BI, RAVERS and TRUST.
- An up-to-date CV.
