About the Role

Reporting to the Major Projects and TransPennine Route Upgrade Director, you will be working collaboratively across the Senior Leadership and Executive teams of both TPE and TransPennine Route Upgrade to meet critical, high value organisational objectives. We are looking for a highly motivated and engaging Head of Programme Delivery to join our Senior Leadership team at TransPennine Express Trains.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who can successfully lead the delivery of a complex portfolio of transformational change projects, including our work on TransPennine Route Upgrade and TPE’s property investment projects. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering complex multi-agency projects, ideally in the Rail industry. We are looking for someone who will be TPE’s lead representative for the major rail infrastructure projects; capable of operating and influencing at an executive and Board level internally and externally. The preferred candidate is expected to deputise for the Major Projects Director.

You will deliver change through inspirational leadership of a team of Senior Project Managers with technical expertise, through collaborative cross-functional working internally, and with all industry partners including TransPennine Route Upgrade. You will be a strong strategic collaborator with a robust understanding of project management disciplines with rail operations and/or engineering/construction experience. You will have strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability and agility to work with partners to resolve risks and issues to deliver on enterprise goals.

We are looking for an individual with dynamic transformational leadership and a track record of excellence, ensuring compliance with governance processes, statutory obligations, business risk management, and corporate social responsibility, whilst promoting inclusivity and the highest health & safety standards.

You will display a very high level of commercial awareness and evidenced ability to liaise closely with business functions across a large organisation or multi-party alliance/enterprise. Working closely with finance and legal functions, the role holder will ensure business decisions are made in a timely, accurate and robust manner with financial assessments, analysis, and information to support strategic decisions and day-to-day operations relating to TRU and the roles project portfolio.

The role holder requires strong political awareness plus an appreciation of the demands of conflicting business, client and customer interests.
