The Role
The Senior Account Director is the operational and client lead at the heart of our model. You are the engine of our ‘Two Gears’ system, constantly toggling between long-term strategy and real-time tactical execution.
- Strategic Gear : you guide the big brand and commercial bets that build equity and drive long-term growth.
- Tactical Gear : you lead the daily, reactive content engine, finding unfair advantages and in‑market opportunities to hack the interest graph and drive immediate performance.
You live and breathe the WPP Open platform, using our agentic teams and AI tools to deliver integrated solutions that are faster, smarter, and more effective. You are the client's partner in pace, motivating a multidisciplinary pod to produce exceptional work that delivers tangible commercial results.
Responsibilities
- Drive the Relationship : lead the day‑to‑day client partnership at the speed of culture, acting as the trusted advisor for both the big strategic bets and the daily tactical sprints.
- Co‑Create the Brief : challenge traditional briefs. You don't wait for them; you anticipate needs and use real‑time cultural signals and data to shape the opportunity.
- Lead the Pod : drive a lean, integrated team of ‘&‑shaped’ talent across creative, media, strategy, and production to deliver high‑quality, fully integrated work. You ensure the team is structured for speed, not silos.
- Be an AI Super‑User : you will be a power user of the WPP Open platform, leveraging AI to deliver on our <2>
- Speak Brand & Performance : speak fluently in both 'Brand' (SOV, brand equity) and 'Performance' (CPA, ROAS) in the same sentence, connecting every creative idea to a commercial outcome.
- Think Like a Founder : proactively identify and plan for growth opportunities, thinking beyond the current project to what’s next for the client’s business.
- Accelerate Talent : mentor junior team members to become ‘&‑shaped’—commercially‑minded, creatively‑driven, and media‑savvy.
- Be Culture‑Obsessed : stay relentlessly at the forefront of the interest graph. You know what's bubbling up on TikTok/Reels and can translate a trend into a tactical opportunity before it’s over.
Skills Required
- Insurgent Partner & Commercial Driver : you build partnerships based on pace and performance. You are as comfortable discussing CPA as you are creative concepts.
- The "&‑Shaped" Mindset : you reject the silos of 'creative' vs 'media'. You have a proven track record in an integrated environment and understand how to connect all disciplines to solve a problem.
- AI‑Native & Radically Efficient : you have more than an "interest" in AI; you see it as a fundamental tool for efficiency and creativity. You are allergic to bureaucracy and find the fastest route to an outcome.
- Pod Leadership & Talent Acceleration : you excel at leading small, agile, multidisciplinary teams. You inspire action and have a passion for mentoring talent to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
