As Finance Director you will oversee the agency’s finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, strong governance and robust controls. You’ll partner with the Commercial Director to align revenue and working capital with strategy, and lead the Finance Team across a multi-entity network. You translate financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership and drive efficient processes in a fast-paced agency. This role supports growth in a digitally evolving, integrated marketing business.
Responsibilities
- Own monthly financial reporting, close processes and timely submission of accounts
- Set governance standards, ensure compliance with the WPP Accounting Manual and internal controls
- Direct budgeting, forecasting and financial planning with the Commercial Director
- Oversee year-end close, audit coordination and statutory reporting
- Provide senior oversight of VAT and corporation tax compliance
- Manage intercompany accounting, cross-charging and network reconciliations
- Lead, coach and develop the Finance Team with clear accountability and resilience
Key requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Extensive post-qualification experience in a senior finance leadership role
- Strong technical accounting, financial control, statutory reporting and audit experience
- Proven people leadership within finance
- Experience in group reporting and multi-entity or networked organisations; agency or WPP exposure is advantageous
- Ability to partner with senior Commercial Director while maintaining clear commercial ownership
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, working capital and cash management skills
- Clear, influential communicator balancing detail with strategic view
- Proactive, composed and accountable with track record of process improvement
