About the Role

The CRM Midweight Designer is a versatile, creative role within the Mosaic team, responsible for contributing to the development and execution of compelling, high‑performing communications across various platforms for The Sun, with a strong focus on CRM and email marketing. You will work closely with Design Directors, copywriters, and the wider creative team to build visually engaging campaigns that reach millions of readers. This role requires a solid understanding of design principles, brand guidelines, and responsive email design. You are curious about A/B testing and design performance, and you are keen to leverage the full capabilities of WPP Open and Figma to build seamless, multi‑platform customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • CRM, Email & Digital Execution
    • Develop High‑Quality Visual Designs: Create engaging, responsive email templates, CRM communications, digital ads, social media content, and video assets.
    • Email Optimization: Design and implement layouts that provide optimal viewing experiences across various devices, screen sizes, and email clients, incorporating multimedia elements where appropriate.
    • Deliverability & Quality Control: Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines, are optimized for different media channels, and meet strict technical specifications for email deliverability.
    • Asset Preparation: Assist in the preparation and hand‑off of design assets for final delivery, ensuring files are organised and production‑ready.
  • Conceptualisation & Ideation
    • Campaign Brainstorming: Contribute to brainstorming sessions and develop creative concepts that align with CRM goals, marketing objectives, and brand strategy.
    • Data‑Driven Design: Translate strategic insights and CRM performance data into visually appealing ideas, demonstrating a growing understanding of The Sun’s audience and what drives their engagement.
    • A/B Testing Support: Collaborate with the marketing team to explore different visual styles and approaches to support A/B testing frameworks.
  • Figma Design Systems & CRM Scaling
    • Figma Workflow Automation: Learn to leverage Figma's advanced features (e.g., auto‑layout, components, variables, and plugins) to streamline workflows and improve team efficiency.
    • Design System Support: Help maintain and scale our CRM Design System, ensuring all design assets and templates are well‑organised, accessible, and consistently formatted in Figma.
  • WPP Open Integration & Collaboration
    • Collaborate cross‑functionally to leverage the capabilities of WPP Open, ensuring its integration into our creative and CRM projects.
    • Learning how to access and leverage audience data and insights from across the WPP network to inform design decisions.
    • Utilising WPP's technology platforms and tools to streamline design workflows.
    • Sharing learnings and email best practices with other WPP agencies to contribute to the overall design output of the network.
  • Brand Guardianship
    • Develop a strong understanding of The Sun brand, including its visual identity, tone of voice, and diverse target audiences.
    • Ensure all designs maintain a consistent brand experience across all CRM touchpoints and digital channels.
    • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of brand guidelines and visual standards.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication
    • Collaborate closely with creatives, strategists, and account/campaign managers to bring ideas to life.
    • Present your work with clarity, explaining the creative thinking behind your layouts, and show a willingness to learn from performance feedback.
