This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who require tailored educational provision due to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language needs, dyslexia, medical needs, or other additional learning needs.

You'll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, re‑engage with education, and achieve meaningful academic progress through personalised 1:1 support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition tailored to each pupil's individual needs.
  • Support secondary-aged pupils with a range of SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual learning requirements.
  • Plan lessons that promote academic progress, confidence, independence, and engagement.
  • Monitor pupil progress and complete session reports following each tuition session.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools, local authorities, and other professionals.
  • Encourage pupils to develop resilience, motivation, and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Deliver tuition across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE preparation where appropriate.
  • Must-Have Requirements
  • A minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum, particularly Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Experience teaching one or more core subjects (English, Maths, or Science) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, behaviour management, and relationship‑building skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to travel reliably within Coventry.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Nice-to-Have
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, dyslexia, or other additional needs.
  • Experience delivering tuition within alternative provision, specialist settings, or pupils' homes.
  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Experience preparing pupils for GCSE examinations or supporting learners who are working below age‑related expectations.
