The Senior Risk Manager – Assurance is responsible for delivering independent risk and controls assurance across TP ICAP. This includes conducting assurance testing and deep-dive reviews into specific risk areas, advising on risk mitigation strategies, and producing insightful analysis and reporting for senior stakeholders. The role ensures compliance with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and contributes to a strong risk-aware culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Assurance
- Develop and maintain the Risk function’s approach to risk and control assurance.
- Lead and manage the annual assurance plan, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., FRC Board Declaration, SOX) and coordination across the three lines of defence.
- Execute assurance activities and manage findings in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Conduct deep dives into risk and control profiles, driving actionable outcomes.
- Stay current with industry best practices, including AI innovations, and apply them where relevant.
- Risk Monitoring & Reporting
- Support end-to-end risk profile monitoring through MI, analysis, and commentary.
- Track and report on significant issues, remediation efforts, and emerging risks.
- Identify trends in risk-related data (events, issues, metrics).
- Provide monthly updates and draft commentary for risk committees and leadership meetings.
- Training & Awareness
- Promote a risk-aware culture through training and engagement initiatives.
- Deliver sessions and materials that enhance understanding of risk management practices.
- Risk Management Leadership
- Foster commercially sound risk management across all lines of defence.
- Champion continuous improvement and leverage external networks and industry bodies.
- Respond to market events with timely risk interpretation and mitigation strategies.
- Lead the assurance program within the Operational Risk Management Framework, including policy development and technical oversight.
- Drive configuration and enhancement of the Group’s GRC system to support assurance efforts.
- Deliver accurate, timely risk insights to inform strategic decision-making.
Experience & Competencies
- Essential
- Proven experience in risk and controls assurance, gained through assurance testing or internal/external audit.
- Experience working within an Operational Risk program in a medium to large financial institution.
- Demonstated, in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its regulatory framework.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent professional certification.
- Technically astute and detail-oriented, with a proactive and accountable approach.
- Solid stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse environments.
- Commercially minded with a strategic outlook and strong initiative.

- Experience in an IDB (Interdealer Broker) or Capital Markets environment.
- Additional risk-related experience beyond Operational Risk.
- Understanding of fixed income, equities, FX, emerging markets products.
- Familiarity with electronic and algorithmic trading and post-trade workflows.
