Role Overview
This role sits within the Global Information Security team reporting directly into the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and with a dotted line into the Global Head of Architecture. The Head of Cyber Architecture & Engineering is responsible for leading a team of security architects & engineers to maintain security technology that protects TP ICAP and embed security by design in a varied and sophisticated technical landscape. This is a leadership role with the opportunity to build and shape a team of experts and where necessary deputise for the CISO.
Role Responsibilities
- Split responsibility between looking out from the security function, working collaboratively with the business to support application development, and then looking inward to security by owning the management and implementation of TP ICAP security technologies.
- Define and implement an adaptable technology roadmap to ensure a robust defence in depth security posture is maintained.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders (e.g. IT infrastructure and application architects, IT Operations, Product Development) to understand security requirements and engineer technology solutions that incorporate sound security design and governance principles.
- Configure and maintain TP ICAP security technologies including management of process improvements, issue remediation and exception management.
- Knowledge of new technological trends and security threats and their impact on cyber security architecture and operations.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, policies, and standards in support of cyber security procurement and technology development efforts.
- Influence senior stakeholders to mature and promote industry-leading security architecture across the overall technology landscape.
- Effectively communicate project status, risks & issues, and technical challenges to key stakeholders, providing regular updates and ensuring alignment between architecture & engineering and other business functions.
- Work with developers to ensure security is designed into our applications as early as possible.
- Develop the function to review architectural designs and ensure they adhere to TP ICAP security standards and create architectural patterns to ease adoption of security controls.
- Ensure and manage IT control compliance and report KRI, KPIs to provide assurance of operational effectiveness.
- Build and lead a team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.
- Lead quality assurance reviews and evaluations of security technology to ensure operational effectiveness of security controls.
- Serve as escalation point for engineers and senior management.
Experience / Competences
Essential
- Experience of developing architectural patterns to meet security outcomes.
- Excellent understanding and knowledge of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures including a good understanding of technology concepts.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the following security areas: SOC, PAM, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, network security, AppSec, and cloud security.
- Strong ability to communicate, excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to speak authoritatively to different audiences.
- Strong project management/organizational skills.
- Ability to craft presentations and updates for management.
- Ability to work well under pressure and juggle multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, secure network/systems configuration/operating systems/application security.
- Experience in technical IT Security including incident management.
- Experience of working within large scale complex IT environments in the financial industry.
