Role Overview

The Senior Risk Manager, Non-Financial Risk, is responsible for partnering with business and functional leaders to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate non-financial risks across the Group. The role provides independent challenge, risk oversight, and pragmatic guidance to support informed decision-making, strategic objectives, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with senior stakeholders, the successful candidate will help strengthen the organisation's Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Operational Risk Framework, and prudential risk processes while promoting a strong and proactive risk culture.

Role Responsibilities

  • Enterprise & Prudential Risk Management
    • Support the ongoing development and enhancement of the Group's Enterprise Risk Management Framework, risk policies, and methodologies.
    • Maintain oversight of the Group's enterprise, operational, and prudential risk profile, ensuring alignment with approved risk appetite.
    • Monitor emerging and macro-level risks, providing meaningful analysis and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
    • Contribute to regulatory and prudential risk activities, including stress testing, capital adequacy assessments, recovery planning, and regulatory submissions.
  • Risk Advisory & Business Partnership
    • Partner with business and functional leaders to identify, assess, and manage material risks arising from business activities, strategic initiatives, and change programmes.
    • Provide commercially focused risk advice and challenge to support effective risk-based decision making.
    • Facilitate and oversee risk assessments, including RCSAs, scenario analysis, root cause analysis, and top-down risk reviews.
  • Risk Governance, Oversight & Assurance
    • Review and challenge the effectiveness of risk and control frameworks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
    • Oversee risk events, issues, policy breaches, and risk acceptances, supporting timely escalation and remediation where required.
    • Contribute to assurance activities, thematic reviews, and control effectiveness assessments across the Group.
  • Risk Monitoring & Reporting
    • Deliver insightful risk reporting, management information, and analysis to business stakeholders, senior leadership, and risk committees.
    • Monitor key risk indicators, appetite metrics, emerging risks, and remediation activities to identify trends and support proactive risk management.
    • Prepare high-quality risk commentary and executive-level reporting.
  • Change, Resilience & Culture
    • Provide risk oversight of strategic initiatives, new business activities, and change programmes, ensuring risks are appropriately identified and managed.
    • Support business continuity and operational resilience activities, including testing, remediation, and crisis management readiness.
    • Promote a strong risk culture through stakeholder engagement, coaching, and risk awareness initiatives.

Experience / Competences

Essential

  • Experience within Risk Management, Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, or a related discipline within a medium to large financial services organisation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of non-financial risk management frameworks and associated regulatory expectations.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Risk Appetite, and Risk Governance principles.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, control evaluations, scenario analysis, and risk reporting.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and products, including Fixed Income, Equities, Foreign Exchange, and Emerging Markets.
  • Understanding of operational and post-trade processes within a financial services environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and present clear, actionable insights.
  • Effective organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and intellectually curious, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and risk management excellence.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Relevant risk, audit, accounting, or financial services qualifications are advantageous.

Desired

  • Experience within an Investment Bank, Interdealer Broker, Capital Markets, or Market Infrastructure environment.
  • Professional qualification such as FRM, PRM, IRM, ICA, ACA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting prudential risk activities, including ICAAP, ICARA, recovery planning, stress testing, and capital adequacy assessments.
  • Exposure to operational risk capital modelling and quantitative risk analysis techniques.
  • Experience supporting regulatory interactions, reviews, or remediation programmes.
  • Knowledge of Business Continuity, Operational Resilience, and Crisis Management frameworks.
  • Experience participating in assurance reviews, control testing, audit engagements, or thematic risk assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive improvements in risk culture across a complex organisation.
