Role Overview

The DevOps Engineer will enable modern engineering practices by driving automation, optimising deployment pipelines, and embedding DevOps principles across development and operational teams. The role requires a technically skilled, collaborative engineer who can partner with developers, architects, and central technology teams to enhance software delivery, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support adoption of agile and DevOps practices across engineering teams.
  • Automate build, deployment, and release processes for on‐premise and cloud applications.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and associated tooling.
  • Contribute to architecture and implementation of microservices, containerised workloads, and serverless solutions.
  • Develop automation solutions for environment provisioning, monitoring, and logging.
  • Collaborate with cloud, platform, and development teams to enhance delivery efficiency.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to promote best‐practice engineering approaches.
  • Contribute to continual improvement of engineering tooling, processes, and standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support business and technology objectives.

Experience / Competences

Essential

  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, automation, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, and operating systems including Windows and Linux.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C#, Java, JavaScript).
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar).
  • Hands‐on experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, TFS, CloudBees).
  • Experience with containerisation technologies and writing Dockerfiles/manifests.
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
  • Experience working within agile delivery teams.
  • Understanding of multi‐tier architectures and application deployment patterns.

Desired

  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and logging platforms.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or managed orchestration services (e.g., EKS).
  • Exposure to serverless architectures and microservices design.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts relevant to cloud and distributed systems.
  • Experience collaborating with cross‐functional engineering and platform teams.
  • Ability to influence engineering improvements across multiple teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders.
