This is an exciting entry-level opportunity to begin a career in front-office financial markets within TP ICAP’s Equities & Equity Derivatives business. As a Trainee Broker on the Single Stock Options (SSO) desk, you will receive structured on-the-job training and gain exposure to dynamic global equity derivatives markets, working closely with experienced brokers and institutional clients. The role is ideally suited to a bright, motivated, and commercially curious individual who thrives in fast-moving environments, can think quickly, and enjoys working both independently and as part of a high-performing team.
The Single Stock Options desk focuses on the intermediation of listed and over-the-counter options on individual equities across key global markets. The desk plays a critical role in:
- Facilitating liquidity between institutional counterparties (e.g. banks, hedge funds, asset managers)
- Supporting client execution and market access across single name volatility products
- Providing real-time price discovery, volatility indications, and market colour
- Assisting clients with hedging, risk management, and tactical positioning strategies
- Interpreting macro-economic developments, corporate events, earnings cycles, and idiosyncratic equity drivers impacting option pricing
You will gain first-hand exposure to how equity markets, corporate fundamentals, volatility dynamics, and technical supply/demand factors influence pricing and trading strategies in the options market, including concepts such as implied volatility, skew, and Greeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day operational and commercial support to brokers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the desk.
- Develop a strong understanding of the credit products traded within Euro Financials, including market conventions and trade lifecycle.
- Monitor market movements, news flow, and macro-economic developments relevant to European financial issuers.
- Deliver live market quotes to traders and clients via messaging systems and trading platforms.
- Assist in identifying potential trade opportunities and relative value strategies.
- Accurately capture, calculate, and relay trade details and market information to brokers and clients on a daily basis.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Act as a positive ambassador for TP ICAP Group, promoting its values and reputation with internal and external stakeholders.
