Role Overview

Sat within the Trade Surveillance Technology team you will be responsible for helping to define, design and deliver strategic Market Abuse Trade Surveillance solutions across Trade and pre-Trade business activity. This opportunity will involve close collaboration with our Compliance Surveillance stakeholders and upstream system/data owners and working with vendor solution developers as well as in-house development and QA colleagues to deliver solutions. The environment is one of continuous change as the firm acquires new businesses, trades new products, seeks to improve the quality of the surveillance coverage and keeps abreast of changes in the many applications from which data is consumed. The team are utilising the SAFE Agile framework for all our work and the solution is deployed on AWS.

Role Responsibilities

  • Define business functional and non-functional requirements for Market Abuse Trade Surveillance with the Compliance Surveillance team and the Product Owner to define prioritised business requirements.
  • Document these requirements in sufficient detail for development and QA partners and work with these teams to ensure on-time delivery of a solution that meets business need.
  • Define acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and support UAT activities and consider how these changes can be effectively tested.
  • Liaise with upstream application and data owners to understand changes on their platforms and to raise Surveillance data requirements.
  • Liaise with vendor technical staff to understand the capabilities and limitations of the third-party surveillance solution utilised.
  • Provide effort estimates of work to feed into the planning process and engage actively in the Agile processes.

Experience / Competences

Essential
  • 5+ years in a Business Analyst role.
  • Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle (pre and post-trade).
  • Strong understanding of financial transactional data and associated reference data.
  • Experience working with surveillance or regulatory platforms.
  • Experience with SQL and database querying.
  • Experience with data mapping and message protocols (formats such as JSON/XML/FIX).
  • Familiarity with MAR, MIFID II or similar regulations.
  • Experience of working across multiple asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities FX).
  • Experience in a BA role on software development or data integration projects.
  • Experience in Agile delivery environments.
  • Skilled at collaborating with multiple business, compliance and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
Desired
  • Familiarity with various Market Abuse Trade Surveillance models.
  • Experience of calibrating Market Abuse Surveillance models.
  • Experience working with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) controls.
  • Experience working with Exchange Traded Derivative (ETD) data.
  • Experience working with Market Data providers.
  • Experience of building and maintaining data completeness controls.
  • Experience building dashboards in Qlik or PowerBI.
  • Familiarity with the business model for an Inter-Dealer Broker.
  • Experience of working with a third-party vendor solution.
