An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced BESS Technician to join a leading renewable energy organisation operating across the UK. This is a field-based role covering sites across the M4 Corridor including Swindon, Bristol, Reading and surrounding areas.

This position offers the chance to work within one of the fastest-growing sectors in the energy industry, supporting utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) while benefiting from excellent training, progression opportunities and long-term career stability.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of utility-scale BESS installations, ensuring high levels of safety, performance and reliability across multiple sites. This is a permanent field-based role and includes participation in an on-call rota with overtime opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and inspections on BESS sites
  • Perform AC/DC testing, fault finding and diagnostics
  • Undertake reactive maintenance and resolve faults efficiently
  • Maintain and troubleshoot SCADA, instrumentation and communications systems
  • Work on RS485, Ethernet and fibre optic networks
  • Support firmware updates and configuration of electronic equipment
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations
  • Produce accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Manage and supervise subcontractors when required
  • Travel between operational sites across the region
  • Occasionally support other sites or attend training courses away from home

Requirements

  • Experience working on utility-scale BESS sites
  • Understanding of BESS technology
  • Experience with AC/DC systems, testing and fault finding
  • Knowledge of SCADA and communication systems
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
