An established and rapidly growing organisation within the construction and renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to lead and develop its Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality strategy across multiple UK sites. This is a senior leadership role offering real influence at strategic level, with responsibility for shaping safety culture, maintaining ISO accreditations, and driving continual improvement across a multi-site operation.

The Role

This is a high-impact position responsible for leading the organisation's SHEQ function and embedding best practice across all operational and corporate functions.

  • Aligning SHEQ practices with an integrated management system (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001)
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and performance reporting
  • Delivering detailed monthly performance reviews to senior leadership, highlighting trends, risks and improvement actions
  • Maintaining strong site visibility while ensuring robust internal processes and governance

This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational engagement with strategic oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement the company's SHEQ strategy in line with business objectives and legal obligations
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • Lead governance, risk management and policy development
  • Embed a proactive safety culture focused on prevention, accountability and continuous improvement

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and Safe Systems of Work
  • Conduct site inspections and internal audits across multiple locations
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and lessons learned
  • Act as principal CDM Advisor, supporting compliance with CDM Regulations, Building Safety Act and Building Regulations
  • Maintain ISO accreditations and manage internal and external audit programmes
  • Support Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and tender submissions
  • Drive engagement through training, mentoring and toolbox talks

Management Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare and present detailed monthly reports covering incidents, leading indicators, audits, risk analysis and improvement initiatives
  • Identify and escalade emerging risks to senior stakeholders
  • Champion wellbeing and occupational health initiatives in collaboration with HR and Operations

About You

We are seeking a credible and influential SHEQ leader with strong experience in construction, M&E or renewable energy environments. You will be confident engaging both operational teams and senior leadership.

Essential Requirements

  • NEBOSH
  • Proven experience in a senior H&S leadership role within construction, M&E or renewable energy
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and ISO 45001
  • Experience managing multi-site H&S compliance and ISO-certified systems
  • Strong analytical, reporting and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable experience leading audits, investigations and improvement programmes
