We are currently growing our UK branch by establishing design engineering capabilities. Therefore, we are seeking a Principal Engineer (m/f/d) to take responsibility for our UK-based design activities for the “Suspension, Steering and Brakes” group. This role will be a pillar of suspension engineering expertise in the UK and report directly to our HQ in Cologne, Germany. You will lead engineering projects and ensure to deliver projects on-time, in quality and within agreed cost limits.

Your tasks:
- Establish suspension design capabilities in our UK branch by independently leading design projects in collaboration with functional experts from our HQ (e.g. design, simulation and calculation departments)
- Be a project manager for new development initiatives in our WEC LMH, GT3, GT4 or WRC programmes
- Take responsibility for conceptual and detail design of race suspensions, including:
- suspension design and development
- suspensions kinematic layout
- suspension calculation and validation
- tooling design and manufacturing processes for suspension members, welded assemblies and ADM additive manufacturing parts documentation
Your Skills:
- Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or equivalent
- Proven track record in leading high-level motorsport engineering projects
- 10+ years of post-graduation work experience in motorsport, including either F1 or WEC
- Very good design skills in conjunction with good knowledge of state-of-the-art technology and materials
- High level of knowledge and relevant experience in motorsport parts layout and the design of high-performance components in the area of e.g. F1, LMH/LMDh, BTCC, GT3, GT4, Rally
- Experience in designing and calculating carbon fibre suspension components
- Proficiency with CAD/CAE and PLM systems, CATIA V5 and Teamcenter experience is a plus
- Team player with responsible, analytical and creative working style
- Solid project management capabilities
- “Racing mindset” – i.e. enthusiasm for motorsport, flexibility and resilience, willingness to go the extra mile to win on track
- Strong communication and organisational skills, empathy, willingness to travel when required
