We are currently looking for an Engineer (m/f/d) Powertrain Design to be part of the design team for our works motorsport team in Cologne, Germany. In this role you will be responsible for development and design of powertrain components and systems for state-of-the-art ICE engines. We value close cooperation and information exchange with all internal departments, within the Toyota Group, and with external stakeholders and we would like you to contribute actively to our spirit of collaboration.

Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and design ICE powertrain components and systems for state-of-the-art engines
- Create and optimize 3D models and technical drawings from early concept studies all the way to assembly designs
- Coordinate simulations and analyses to ensure the functionality and reliability of powertrain systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary inhouse teams (e.g. with R&D, Calculation, Design, Testing, Application, Assembly QA, etc. teams) to evaluate, define and implement technical and logistical requirements and specifications
- Lead engine design projects and follow related work streams
- Take on component responsibility from design through to manufacturing and final assemblies
- Participate in design reviews and develop improvement proposals
- Continuous improvement of design methods and processes
Your Profile:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable qualification
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience in automotive powertrain design, ideally, experience in motorsport applications
- Experience in layout and design of prototype engines, preferably also single cylinder
- Proficient in CAD/CAE and PLM software, experience in CATIA V5 and Teamcenter is preferred
- Experience with simplified simulation and analysis tools welcome
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and processes including material sections appreciated
- Motivated to stay on top of future trends in ICE engine development, professional contact points with H2 ICE are appreciated
- Creative and analytical thinking as well as a structured working approach
- Strong passion to design & develop internal combustion engines, flexibility and resilience, willingness to go the extra mile to win on track
- Self-driven work approach, strong communication skills, values teamwork
- Good command of English, both spoken and written
