Farringdon, London (EC1M) Permanent Hybrid working. Toyota Connected Europe (TCEU) is seeking an enthusiastic technology expert to join the engineering management team and play a critical role in shaping our technical vision, strategy, and execution. The role will support the company’s growth and success towards our next generation of innovative products and services. The Head of Technology will be critical to the engineering department’s efforts to move from a technology provider to a business partner.
Candidates must be highly motivated, able to make data‑driven decisions, and possess strong management and interpersonal skills, interacting with a wide variety of diverse individuals, including business stakeholders and IT leadership teams across the global Toyota ecosystem. This role reports to the VP Engineering and is responsible for managing the solution architecture and software engineering functions.
At a high level, this role is responsible for:
- Technical Leadership
- Drive the Technical and Architecture team to plan and deliver work sustainably and with high quality.
- Balance tactical delivery with strategic stability.
- Bring technical thinking into decisions early, providing a technology roadmap that supports the business.
- Spot technical risks early and embed governance from the start.
- Technical Excellence
- Define and unify technical standards to keep systems maintainable as we scale.
- Ensure the technical roadmap solves actual user problems, not just “cool” engineering challenges.
- Empower the organisation through technological innovation and process excellence to achieve a decisive competitive edge.
- Talent Architecture & Cultural Leadership
- Ensure project intake aligns with resource availability to maintain high delivery standards.
- Cultivate organisational talent for a high‑performing and future‑ready workforce.
- Know when to upskill current employees versus hiring new talent.
- Business and Client Relations
- Translate complex technical risks into business impact for management, customers, and other business teams.
- Lead and foster a collaborative culture with customer technical teams and internal teams.
