The Town of Windsor, CT is accepting applications for a part-time Scale Clerk for the Townβs Transfer Station.
Your typical work activities will include :
- Greet transfer station customers and direct to appropriate location
- Answer question, both in-person and phone calls, regarding fees, hazardous wastes, recycling, dumping, and other related matters
- Weigh vehicles entering and exiting the transfer station, identify contents and calculate the appropriate fee charged for dumping
- Receive and process cash/credit card payments, provide receipts, and records fees
- Provide additional administrative support related to operations within assigned area of responsibility
Our ideal Candidate:
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills with the ability to be personable yet authoritative
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in the solid waste industry a plus but not necessary
- Successful completion of the Town of Windsor background screening process, which includes a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen including testing for marijuana.
Compensation and Schedule :
- Hourly rate: $18 β $20 – commensurate with experience
- 20 to 25 hours per week β including most Saturdays
(Some flexibility for occasional time-off for those days, if needed)
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- The work environment is moderately noisy, odorous and dusty at times
- Must be able to speak and hear to communicate effectively in person, over the phone and on the radio
- Must be able to occasionally lift and move objects up to 15 pounds
