Summary
Routine but responsible manual work in the maintenance and repair of facilities for the water supply and distribution system and/or sewage collection system, and related equipment, including the operation of motor equipment.
What You’ll Do
- Janitorial and landscaping work, including lawn mowing & trimming, hedge trimming, brush cutting, and litter clean-up
- Manual labor such as digging, loading, and unloading gravel, dirt, asphalt, bricks, or timber
- Painting and light carpentry
- Routine repairs and maintenance to equipment to ensure its safe operating condition.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting other Divisions of Public Works
Who You Are
- Reliable and hardworking with a strong work ethic
- High school diploma or equivalent experience and training
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Skilled in using a variety of tools and cleaning agents
- Physically able to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods, including over uneven terrain
- Able to work a consistent schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch coordinated with the crew leader
- Ready to start immediately and available to work through September, depending on work availability and funding
- High school graduation plus sufficient work experience or training to perform assigned duties; or any equivalent combination of education or experience. A Massachusetts Driver’s License is required.
