POSITION: Librarian I Circulation

Groton Public Library

Full-Time, 35 hours per week

Starting Rate

$32.59/hour (Contract currently in negotiation)

Position Range

$32.59 - $37.44/hour

Position Overview

The Librarian I Circulation plans, organizes, and coordinates the activities of the Circulation Division. Responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Circulation Department, including scheduling support staff, staff training, coordination of collection maintenance, and the development, implementation, and maintenance of circulation procedures, policies, and practices. Coordinates daily circulation activities through the integrated library system, ensuring accurate processing of circulation transactions, maintenance of patron records, issuance of library cards, damage assessment, and related activities. Prepares statistical and operational reports and maintains current procedural manuals and documentation. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a Bachelors Degree and two (2) years experience or Master's Degree in Library Science from a school accredited by American Library Association (ALA). Demonstrated proficiency with computers, library technology, and commonly used software applications. Excellent customer service skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential. Evening and weekend hours are required. A Masters degree in Library Science (MLS) and bilingual skills are preferred.
