The Department of Public Works Highway and Sanitation Department is seeking candidates for Heavy Motor Equipment Operator II. This position performs a range of labor activities, operates sanitation vehicles, front-end loaders, street sweepers, packers, and other equipment; transports personnel and materials to and from job sites; and conducts safety inspections of vehicles to ensure they are clean and operating properly, including sanitation trucks. The role involves heavy equipment operation and manual work relating to the activities of the Highway and Sanitation Division, including operating trucks used to pick up dumpsters at schools and town buildings.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma;
  • One or two years of experience performing labour work and driving heavy equipment and sanitation trucks;
  • Experience working on construction projects, roadway projects, or utility projects, and performing snow and ice removal; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B, and MA Hoisting Engineer's License are required.

Starting salary: £28.29 hourly plus generous benefits and excellent working conditions. Open until filled.
