- Previous experience as a registered Home Manager
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operational responsibility of the home and people within it
- Maintain the professional integrity of the home and represent its interests in dealings with other bodies, groups, or individuals.
- Provide all relevant information and leaflets to prospective new referrals, make appointments and show them and their relatives around the home.
- Arrange and assess trial visits and maintain a show room.
- Carry out pre-admission assessments with the Matron and risk assess the compatibility of residents along with risks to ensure the home can meet the needs of the referred person.
- Ensure fees are at the set level and any variation to be discussed and approved with the Business Development Team and Managing Director.
- Ensure a pre-admission care plan is in place prior to admission of the new residents.
- Ensure Resident of the Day is fully implemented and oversee completion through audit.
- Ensure that family/relatives are fully engaged in care planning and service development.
- Ensure adequate arrangements for the induction and reception of new residents and staff are in place.
- Ensure the highest standards of care are applied by staff through daily walk rounds and leading the Flash meeting.
- Work with the Lead for Wellbeing to ensure staff promote positive mental and physical wellbeing and that activities reflect the persons hobbies.
- Investigate complaints, take appropriate actions ensuring records are maintained.
- Liaise and co-operate with CQC inspectors and inspections.
- Work with members of the support team in promoting good practice, Lead for Wellbeing, Lead Nurse, Regional Manager and Allied Health Professionals.
Residents Care:
- Ensure that the emotional, physical, spiritual, medical and material needs of the people living at Towerview are recognised, assessed and met.
- Support people in taking decisions in matters which affect their lifestyle.
- Jointly produce an assessment of need of each person in conjunction with the Residents relevant professional agencies and family.
- Develop a care plan that provides a satisfactory quality of life for that person.
- Work with the Matron to ensure plans of care are evaluated monthly and where changes to presentation may have changed.
- Promote relationships which enable each person to participate in social activities within the home and in the life of the local community to the maximum of their ability.
- Ensure the provision of health care arrangements including the ordering, recording and administration of prescribed medication.
- Ensure the safe custody and safe administration of all medication in accordance with the Care Standards Act (2000) and relevant legislation.
- Ensure prompt access to a GP, chiropodist, dentist and other health care professionals where required.
- Ensure efficient running of the domestic character of the home including planning menus, ensuring dietary needs are met, maintaining good standards of food presentation, ordering supplies, ensuring good standards of hygiene and cleanliness, and providing care under the direction of a GP.
Staff:
- Manage recruitment, appointment and deployment of care staff.
- Ensure good communication with and between staff and arrange regular staff meetings in accordance with company policy.
- Ensure effective induction, supervision and assessment of staff is carried out and that training needs are identified and met.
- Ensure that employment legislation is implemented.
- Oversee staff rotas to minimise the use of agency staff.
- Uphold the homes Equal Opportunities policies and practices, promoting fair and quality services to all.
Premises:
- Manage any malfunction of the heating, lighting, nurse call or emergency systems and ensure the security of the premises.
- Ensure that fire regulations are complied with and advise the operational manager of any areas of risk.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations concerning environmental health, infection control, building control, planning and health and safety.
Finance:
- Ensure that residents are supported in retaining responsibility for their own money and financial arrangements.
- Handle money properly for those assessed as not having capacity to manage their own financial affairs, keeping clear records of all transactions according to company policy.
Infection Prevention & Control:
Infection prevention and control is everybody's responsibility. All staff must comply with infection control policies and procedures, provide leadership in infection control matters, and challenge poor infection control practice. All staff should have infection control training at induction and annual updates as required.
