We are seeking a compassionate, committed Care Practitioner to join our children's residential home, supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). You will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential. This role is central to delivering high-quality, child-centred care in line with Ofsted regulations, the Children Act 1989, and Every Child Matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality physical, emotional, social, and cultural care tailored to each child's individual needs
- Promote independence and life skills such as communication, self-care, cooking, and daily routines
- Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent, positive role model
- Support children through challenging behaviours using calm, trauma-informed approaches
- Safeguard children at all times and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment
- Monitor health, wellbeing, behaviour, and development, reporting concerns appropriately
- Assist with medication administration in line with policies and training
- Support education, leisure, and community-based activities
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports, reviews, and care planning meetings
- Advocate for children and actively involve them in decisions about their lives and futures
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, teachers, and other professionals
Working as Part of a Team
- Contribute positively to team meetings, supervision, and appraisals
- Work consistently with colleagues to implement care plans
- Support team development and provide informal support to colleagues when needed
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and the home’s Statement of Purpose
- Uphold professional standards, including whistleblowing responsibilities
Personal Development
- Receive a full induction and ongoing training
- Attend mandatory and in-house training sessions
- Be supported through supervision and appraisal processes
