An exciting opportiny has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our clients\’ talented team based at their head office in Lincoln. Our client is a privately owned business based in Lincoln with a reputation for delivering quality Civil Engineering projects within Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas undertaking a range of interesting and diverse projects. We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage the financial position of projects and to report and control them effectively as well as managing the contractual relationship between the various parties involved in any project. Key responsibilities as a Quantity Surveyor: Pre-Construction • You will attend Handover Meeting for upcoming new Projects. • Attend on-site pre-start meetings with the client for new Projects. • Produce and action a subcontractor procurement schedule. • Understand and communicate the contract/ order the project is based on. Construction • Attend site with Contracts Manager regularly to review progress. • Produce comprehensive, accurate interim applications and submit to client/ representative in line with their requirements. • Ensure certification is achieved, reconciled and invoices raised. • Ensure that all application details for your projects are added to the workload spreadsheet and kept updated once certified and paid. • Ensure payment is received when due. • Compare sub-contract quotations and procure sub-contractors against BoQ allowance and ensure within nett allowances. Place sub-contract orders on the relevant form. Issue to sub-contractor and ensure agreed and signed before sub-contract works start. • Monitor material quantities against estimate and check material purchase invoices. • Review the information logged on the daily diaries, ensuring adequate detail is recorded. • Price, measure and agree variations, when required, in line with BoQ rates, outputs or on a day work basis and ensure instructed before works are carried out. • Check sub-contractor application for payments. Queries to be dealt with within 5 days of receiving the application. Once signed-off, hand back to the Contract Team Leader for payment. • Monitor and control all aspects of the surfacing sub-contract, ensuring dips are completed, core results are received and reviewed by the Contracts Manager prior to signing off application and that all information is filed accordingly. • Monitor costs and produce cost value reconciliation report. • Attend progress meetings for your projects and contribute with the current and projected commercial position. • Understand the commercial position of your projects and advise resolution of any issues. • Ensure all testing and as-built surveys are completed and we have records (signed off by Contracts Manager) Completion • Prepare final accounts for clients and sub-contractors. • Ensure all O+M information is received prior to final payment. • Collate and manage claims and disputes. • Produce and manage claims. • Log and manage any remedial works required by the business, or sub-contractor. Update in the closedown meeting. • Attend project close down meetings and provide performance review of sub-contractors. • Feedback relevant information to buying and estimating depts from the Closedown meeting. • Make note of retention release dates and ensure invoiced and paid when due. General • Attend and contribute to commercial meetings. • Help out with estimating projects when necessary. • Follow the current commercial processes and advise if improvement is required or made.
