The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Our client, a main contractor requires an experienced Project Manager for a permanent position based at their head office and covering sites in South / West Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for the control of contracts, ensuring health, safety, environmental and quality compliance is maintained, the company's procedures followed and objectives fulfilled to complete a contract on time and within budget. At all times, the post holder is the first point of contact for members of the public, site managers and sub-contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning projects and ensuring they are programmed to a level of detail necessary for the site team to deliver the scheme without delays.
  • Ensuring procurement and reconciliation of materials is carried out in accordance with company procedures to best value and prevent delays.
  • Ensuring the site teams' compliance with company commercial policies and procedures.
  • Attending tender handover meetings and delivering pre-start meetings to the site team.
  • Ensuring a commercial plan and end of life forecast is in place and monitored monthly for the successful commercial delivery of the project.
  • Producing and analysing progress reports and sharing this information with the Project QS.
  • Ensure correct commercial engagement of sub-contractors.
  • Implementing the risk management process, reviewing risk registers and checking risk controls.
  • Reviewing the CVRs monthly with the project teams and implementing necessary actions.
  • Completing and distributing the contract initiation/completion forms for each project.
  • Ensuring weekly review of progress, budget resources and forward planning are carried out and look ahead programmes are in place.
  • Chairing and attending internal and external meetings and ensuring the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions.
  • Ensure timely management of both temporary and permanent design to meet the requirements of each project.

Required Experience & Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Extensive experience of managing projects within a construction contracting environment.
  • Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations and risk management programme and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting.
  • Experience in MS Project.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts including the early warning and compensation event mechanisms.
  • HNC / HND / Degree level (or equivalent).
  • SMSTS.
  • Temporary works coordinator.
  • Appropriate CSCS card.
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to influence and mentor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with both client and all levels of staff.
  • Problem solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • IT competent.
