The Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES) is seeking to appoint experienced Strings & Primary Curriculum Music tutors to teach in schools. There is also the potential for some teaching at the THAMES Music Centres on evenings and Saturday mornings, directing and supporting ensembles.
Candidates must have some experience of leading whole class tuition (Strings), or delivering Curriculum Music in primary schools (Primary Curriculum Music).
Key ResponsibilitiesYour key task will be to teach music to pupils in individual/small group lessons, and/or whole classes, in line with THAMES policies and the Service Level Agreement (SLA) to schools in Tower Hamlets.
Requirements- Successful instrumental/curriculum teaching experience in a music service or school, delivering small group, whole class, or classroom curriculum music lessons
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
- Evidence of significant practical music-making at a high level of performance
The postholder will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on appointment and then every three years thereafter.
Interview DateShortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview on Tuesday 25th August 2026.
Additional InformationBeing placed on the Panel of Music Tutors is not a guarantee of work but ensures that THAMES can select tutors for teaching who are set-up by Human Resources and Payroll and cleared to teach. Posts are part time, term time only and in various schools in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
