We are recruiting for an Environmental Services Technical Officer - Waste Management to join our Operational Services Team. If you are committed to achieving positive outcomes, passionate about improving the environment, increasing recycling, reducing waste, and driving service improvement, we would love to hear from you.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day management of the council's waste treatment, recycling and disposal contracts.
  • Taking a leading role in managing and analysing waste tonnage and contract financial data to check for errors, enable decision making, inform service improvement, evaluate change, benchmark, monitor and forecast performance towards targets or budgets.
  • Validation and reporting of waste tonnage data to the national WasteDataFlow database.
  • Providing technical advice, support and expertise in waste management, disposal and treatment.
  • Improving the use of information systems to capture, store, manipulate, analyse and display waste management data.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of the policy, legislation and practice relating to waste management.
  • Ability to deal with large and complex datasets and provide analysis and forecasting of performance.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with external partners and stakeholders to achieve best outcomes for the council.
