We have an exciting new role for an Assistant Director Integrated Pathway Development in the Care Group to develop and oversee the work associated with developing integrated pathways for services that may move from acute to community. You will work closely with health and care system partners driving change during this accelerated phase of transformation in line with NHS 10 Year Plan and Neighbourhood development.

You will be responsible for ensuring and providing strategic leadership and management of the programme of works, working closely with Care Group colleagues, Neighbourhoods, Clinical Leads, and system partners. The postholder will ensure robust programme governance processes are in place to deliver a programme of work to enhance neighbourhoods through development of new service models for delivery of services in neighbourhoods. Establishing and maintaining key relationships both internally and externally will be a key feature of the role.

Main duties of the job

You must have significant experience of commissioning services and be able to demonstrate exceptional leadership and facilitation skills, as well as significant experience of managing projects that have delivered demonstrable improvements in performance and service delivery.

Job responsibilities

  • Supporting the Care Group (CG) and neighbourhoods to identify opportunities for development of services that can move from an acute setting to be delivered in local neighbourhoods.
  • Ensuring wide stakeholder engagement between acute, community and general practice in developing the programme of work.
  • Ensuring appropriate co-production with experts by experience including service users and carers.
  • Lead complex clinical discussions, using clinical leaders to help scope, model and enable changes in delivery.
  • Aligning multiple data sources including OPTUM, community asset registers, JSNAs, GP data, to inform plans.
  • Manage the interface between the acute trust (Barts) and the CG (and general practice), facilitating constructive discussions to determine best services to be delivered in the community.
  • Lead on all related works within including associated delivery plans such as communications and engagement strategy.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and track project progress against key milestones and deliverables, identifying and addressing any issues or risks that may arise.
  • Prepare and present programme reports to the CG Exec, CG Board and any Project Board that may be established and as required within the governance structures of each neighbourhood.
  • Prepare regular updates for key governance meetings as per the governance arrangements in each neighbourhood, and to wider partners as required.
  • Establish, direct and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and options, that will improve patient care, ensuring that these are delivered in line with each individual organisation's business requirements and Standing Financial Instructions, with any relevant national guidelines, procurement regulations and wider regulations also adhered to.
  • Communicate regularly with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, staff, and external partners, to provide updates on project status, solicit feedback, and address any concerns or questions.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of the comms & engagement plan for the projects, working with colleagues as necessary in the relevant comms teams.
  • Providing and receiving highly complex and contentious information from multiple partners in a challenging political environment, ensuring alignment of objectives, communications and plans across all affected stakeholders and patient groups.
  • Develop credibility with partner organisations in order to persuade, influence and affect change at senior executive and management levels, ensuring that view of patients and relevant staff are fully considered.
  • Resolve conflicts and issues, interpreting applicable local and national guidance as appropriate and in close liaison with relevant clinical teams.
  • Deputise for the Executive Director of Service Delivery and Integration as necessary.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Significant commissioning experience including year of care.
  • Experience of managing multi-million pound service developments and developing new services models and associated budgets.
  • Significant experience of managing stakeholder engagement to enable effective change.
  • Significant experience of writing multi-million pound cases for change.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrable influencing skills and information literacy in managing complex scenarios both internally and externally.

£84,500 per year depending on skills and experience
