Towcester Veterinary Centre is a mixed veterinary practice located over 4 sites within and around the historic town of Towcester, Northamptonshire. We are an RCVS accredited independent practice, with a friendly team who are dedicated to delivering great service with a personal touch.
Our Small Animal practice has attained Tier Three status and includes a hospital plus 2 smaller sites (Weedon and Paulerspury). We are a Gold Standard Cat Friendly clinic, offering separate dog and cat waiting areas and ward facilities. We have two surgery certificate holders and two medicine certificate holders and therefore have the opportunity to work cases up to the highest degree.
We offer laparoscopy, endoscopy, orthopaedic work and have an extensive in‑house lab, ultrasound and digital x‑ray equipment to support our treatment. Our lab facilities include Milab/Vetscan and bacterial culture testing, and you will be trained to use this equipment.
We offer nurse clinics including weight and nutritional advice, puppy and kitten checks, socialisation visits and puppy parties, and you would have the opportunity to be involved in all of these. We are proud to offer our own out‑of‑hours service and have a dedicated night nursing team working at our main hospital site in Towcester.
We hope to recruit a self‑motivated and committed RVN who is confident with the responsibilities of the role and able to contribute effectively to our existing nursing team. Our Weedon clinic has recently undergone a major expansion and is always busy – the role will be based here on weekday shifts.
Shifts worked at the weekend will be in part lone‑working at our Towcester hospital – we run a Saturday morning clinic for urgent cases, then the remainder of the weekend is spent caring for our inpatients and assisting the on‑call Vet with any emergency work that arises. Therefore, any applicants should feel confident they have the necessary experience to respond to emergency situations and possess the necessary organisation skills and motivation to work productively without supervision.
You will also be passionate about animal care, organised, proactive and have strong teamworking skills. Strong communication skills are also key, as well as enthusiasm and resilience – we work in a challenging but ultimately rewarding industry!
If you are ready for a change and have a confident and positive outlook, then we would like to hear from you…
Benefits include CPD allowance, RCVS fees paid and generous staff discount.
To be considered for this position please submit your CV plus a covering letter outlining why you are interested in joining our Practice, salary expectations and notice period to Sue Adams, HR Manager sue.adams@towcestervets.co.uk
