As an Apprentice Chef at Café Ambio, you’ll have the opportunity to learn every aspect of working in a professional kitchen, starting with the basics and building your skills and confidence as you progress.
Working alongside our experienced kitchen team, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in:
- Developing essential knife skills and basic kitchen techniques
- Learning to use professional kitchen equipment safely and confidently
- Food preparation and mise en place
- Baking and preparing cakes, pastries and other baked goods
- Cooking a range of dishes to a consistently high standard
- Breakfast and Lunch preparation
- Plating and serving food
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Cleaning down and closing the kitchen
- Stock control and ordering
- Learning how a busy professional kitchen operates from day to day
You’ll also attend college one day every two weeks, with this day included within your 37-hour weekly contract. The role will involve working weekends, as hospitality is a busy seven-day-a-week industry.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about food, keen to learn and wants to build a career in hospitality. We’ll support you from the basics upwards, giving you the skills, experience and confidence to progress as a chef.

Duration: 8 Months
During hours at work, you will be working alongside highly skilled chefs and bakers that will pass on their expertise and experience of the industry. We will work closely with your college to ensure that the training given is in line with your apprenticeship requirement. You will also spend one day per fortnight in college learning from the tutor there.
37 hour per week contract working over 5 days.
The college day is a paid work day.
During peak season, the hours may increase slightly, but this is all paid overtime.
We work on a rota basis, working off 2 weeks advanced notice. Two days off will be together.
