Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced 3D Character Facial Modeler to bring our characters to life with expressive and dynamic facial animations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of topology, anatomy, and facial expressions, ensuring that models perform optimally for animation. You will work closely with concept artists, riggers, and animators to create characters that align with the creative and technical requirements of our projects.
Responsibilities
- Transform 2D concept art into high-quality 3D character models with a focus on facial expressions.
- Sculpt and refine facial features to ensure realistic and expressive animations.
- Collaborate closely with rigging and animation teams to ensure clean and functional topology for deformation.
- Work with surfacing teams to apply textures and materials that enhance the character's visual appeal.
- Ensure that all facial models meet technical and aesthetic standards while aligning with project requirements.
- Troubleshoot and refine facial models based on feedback from supervisors and art directors.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging tools to improve workflow efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in character modeling and facial modeling for animation, film, or gaming.
- Software Proficiency: Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, Mari and Substance 3D (for texturing), 3dsWrap (for additional modeling tasks).
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of human and creature facial anatomy. Expertise in topology optimization for animation. Experience with blendshapes and facial rigging integration. Knowledge of industry-standard pipelines and production workflows.
- Soft Skills: Ability to take feedback and iterate efficiently. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
