An exciting opportunity has arisen within London's world-class Major Trauma System at St. Mary's Hospital with West London NHS Trust for a Band 5 Assistant Psychologist. The post holder will work as part of a dedicated Major Trauma Psychology team to deliver psychological care for service users, families, and staff, including during major incidents. This dynamic role involves screening and delivering interventions to patients who have experienced life-changing events. The clinical team comprises qualified adult and paediatric psychologists and two assistant psychologists. You will work under the leadership of the Clinical Health and Neuropsychology Service within West London NHS Trust. This role is suited to a motivated and organised candidate with previous experience of working in a physical health setting.
Responsibilities
- Support and enhance professional psychological care of patients within the Major Trauma Centre—both inpatient and outpatient.
- Assist with initial holistic questioning, assessment, screening and follow-up screening under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist, working independently within an agreed plan.
- Work closely alongside the medical and multidisciplinary therapies team on the Major Trauma ward.
- Participate in audit and evaluation activities, demonstrating impact and outcomes.
- Collaborate with an academic partner for data recording, collection and analysis to ensure research-quality outputs.
