An Estimator, ideally with a mechanical bias, is being sought by a growing contractor, based in Southampton. The position is a permanent role where you will be working from the office based in Ower, Southampton. Key Activities include:
- Tender pricing: respond to tender queries, prepare and submit competitive tender packages and quotations with values ranging from £100k to £2m+ in accordance with our clients' requirements.
- Job costing: calculate the price of time, labour and materials for complex, bespoke contracts.
- Managing and assisting with the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaires for large tenders.
- Negotiation of effective cost settlements for projects.
- Analysis of contract documentation and preparation of accurate sub-contractor packages for pricing, liaising and negotiating with sub-contractors and key suppliers.
- Meet with clients as necessary to clarify design requirements and explain basis of estimates to ensure bid proposals meet needs.
- Prioritise, manage own work flow and maintain accurate record of tenders submitted.
- Arrange sub-contractor enquiry documents to ensure accuracy and competitiveness of estimate.
- Drawing take offs: take off quantities from drawings or bill of quantities and preparation of schedule of rates.
- Determine contractual, financial, technical and operational risks and find opportunities to minimise risk and maximise gross profit.
