We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Technical Assessor to join our Compliance team. This is a key role where you will take the lead in managing technical waste assessments, regulatory compliance, and Trans-frontier Shipment (TFS) applications. You will play an active role in supporting the business through expert guidance on waste legislation, while also driving improvements in internal processes and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Salary: Competitive - dependent on level of experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full TFS application process, including data gathering, submission preparation, and coordination through to consent
- Oversee live TFS applications, ensuring timely renewals and modifications
- Provide technical and regulatory guidance to customers and internal stakeholders
- Assess and classify waste enquiries in line with WM3 and relevant legislation
- Ensure compliant processing of all waste enquiries against KPIs and internal procedures
- Support the development and delivery of departmental KPIs and objectives
- Monitor and interpret UK and international waste legislation
- Deliver training and technical guidance to internal teams and external clients
- Support offsite waste sampling and management activities
- Liaise with UK and European waste treatment/disposal providers to agree acceptance and negotiate rates
- Build strong relationships with customers and third-party suppliers
- Lead investigations and reporting of non-conformances
- Conduct duty of care audits across UK and international waste facilities
- Act as technical lead on cross-functional projects
- Support and coordinate ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems
About You:
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication and organisational skills:
Essential:
- Minimum HNC in Chemistry (Degree desirable)
- At least 3 years’ experience in waste management
- Strong understanding of WM3 and waste classification
- Knowledge of waste treatment processes in the UK and internationally
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
Desirable:
- DGSA (Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor) qualification
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Experience using SAP or CRM systems
