A leading global US law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Operations Manager to join its London finance leadership team. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a critical operational finance function within a highly successful international organisation, combining people leadership, process improvement, financial governance and transformation initiatives within a fast-paced and complex environment.

This role is a key partner to the Director of Finance, overseeing the day-to-day management of accounting operations across multiple international offices, with responsibility for accounts payable, supplier management, cashiers and cash receipts functions. The role plays a key part in ensuring robust financial controls, regulatory compliance and operational excellence, while partnering closely with senior stakeholders to drive consistency and best practice across the wider business.

A significant focus of the position is the continued development and modernisation of the finance function. The successful individual will lead initiatives to enhance processes, strengthen governance frameworks and improve operational efficiency through technology, automation and AI-enabled solutions. They will work collaboratively with finance systems, procurement and regional finance teams to optimise workflows, improve reporting capabilities and create a scalable operating model that supports future growth.

The role also offers substantial leadership responsibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for building capability within the team, developing individuals, creating succession plans and ensuring resources are deployed effectively across changing business priorities. Alongside strategic responsibilities, they will remain closely connected to operational activity, providing guidance on complex issues and ensuring the smooth running of critical finance processes.

Applicants should bring significant accounting operations experience, including supervisory and managerial responsibility across Accounts Payable, Cash Receipts, Treasury and/or Supplier Management functions. Experience gained within a professional services, legal or similarly regulated environment is highly desirable, together with a strong understanding of financial controls, governance and compliance.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading and developing teams, driving process improvements and enhancing operational efficiency, whilst remaining comfortable operating in a hands-on capacity when required. Experience of finance systems, workflow platforms, automation initiatives and data-driven decision-making would be advantageous, as would knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and client money regulations. Strong stakeholder management skills, commercial awareness and a continuous improvement mindset will be essential for success in the role.
