A highly respected professional services firm is seeking an experienced Learning & Development Business Partner to cover a 12‑month maternity leave. Working closely with senior stakeholders across both legal and business services teams, this role plays a pivotal part in designing and delivering impactful learning initiatives — particularly within leadership development, capability building and career framework implementation.

This position sits within a well‑established, collaborative People & L&D function. With excellent exposure to Partners, senior leaders and high‑performing teams, the role is ideal for an L&D professional who enjoys autonomy, senior stakeholder engagement, and end‑to‑end programme ownership.

You’ll be instrumental in shaping career‑stage development pathways, evolving leadership capability, and driving continuous improvement in learning culture across the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Practice Group and Business Services leaders, identifying learning needs for post‑qualification fee earners and operational teams.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on capability building, skills gaps, and development planning.
  • Partner closely with the Early Careers L&D team, People Partners, KM and data specialists to ensure alignment across career‑stage development.
  • Lead the design, development and roll‑out of learning programmes, including management & leadership development, career development frameworks, professional and commercial skills pathways, compliance and regulatory training, and coaching initiatives.
  • Maintain high‑quality, relevant programmes aligned to firm and market expectations.
  • Oversee external vendor relationships and ensure value and quality of delivery.
  • Manage the Learning Management System (Cornerstone or similar).
  • Lead on training requests, onboarding support and induction design for assigned populations.
  • Monitor engagement and evaluate programme impact, making recommendations for ongoing enhancement.
Skills & Experience
  • Confidence presenting to senior audiences including Partners and business leaders.
  • Strong exposure to leadership development, talent management and career framework implementation.
  • End‑to‑end programme design experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with LMS management.
  • CIPD (or equivalent) or relevant professional qualification.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • A proactive, self‑directed approach with the ability to manage multiple projects.
